Residential Building Permits & Inspections

Building codes are in place for your personal safety, for the safety of future residents, and to maintain the resale value of your property. Building permits ensure that any work completed on your property is completed in a safe manner and will protect the value of your property.

Before you do any kind of work on your property, please call the City of Black Hawk Building Department at (303) 582-0615 to verify whether you need a permit for the work you are planning to do, or for any questions you may have regarding home improvements.

All contractors must be registered and have a license with the City of Black Hawk to ensure the quality of the work, and that they have insurance so that the work will be covered and you, the property owner, will be protected should any mishaps occur during any building activities on your property.

Inspections are required though out the construction process and the contractor should contact the Building Department at (303) 582-0615 to determine what inspections will be required for the proposed work and should call when it is time for the appropriate inspection.
