Public Works
There are four divisions within the Public Works Department: Administration, Facilities, Fleet, and Maintenance. The Water Department is an enterprise fund and is budgeted as a separate department.
Administration
The Administration oversees all of the divisions, capital improvement projects, street closure permits for maintenance of streets and sidewalks throughout the city, and handles any problems that may arise with other city, county, state, and federal departments.
Facilities
The Facilities Division is responsible for maintaining all City buildings and ensuring they are clean and in good repair. This crew handles anything from changing a light bulb, repairing a furnace on the blink or a plumbing problem, removing or replacing doors, to building walls.
Fleet Maintenance
The Fleet Maintenance Division maintains and services all City owned vehicles; from street plows to sweepers; to Fire Department, Police Department, County Ambulances, and City buses. Our crew keeps all City vehicles in good repair.
Street Maintenance
The Maintenance Division maintains the streets, travel corridors, and parks for the City. The maintenance crews work tirelessly to ensure that all streets are plowed and safe during the wintertime. During the spring and summer months, this crew uses sweepers to collect trash and debris to keep our City clean. The maintenance division also maintains City parks, flowers, and banner programs.
