The City of Black Hawk and the Black Hawk Casinos through their Business Improvement District (“BID”) are uniting to help the relief efforts of the American Red Cross with matching donations of $25,000 for flood victims across the Front Range and Northern Colorado. “Looking back at the devastation of past flooding in Black Hawk, we are extremely grateful the City of Black Hawk was spared the horrendous destruction experienced by so many fellow Coloradans from the unprecedented flooding over the past week,” stated Black Hawk Mayor David Spellman. “Together with the BID, Black Hawk officials are reaching out to help those affected through the good works of the American Red Cross.”

BID President, John East, stated, “The BID feels strongly about supporting the ongoing relief efforts in the communities that have been impacted by the floods. We are happy to join with the City of Black Hawk on behalf of our employees and guests to do what we can to help. We would also like to thank CDoT for maintaining Highway 6 and Highway 119 during this event to ensure our guests and employees have safe passage to our businesses.”

The Business Improvement District consists of 18 of the 20 Black Hawk casinos. The BID’s focus is on infrastructure improvement and marketing efforts for the gaming/hospitality industry in the City of Black Hawk.

“The roads to Black Hawk are clear and we are open for business with many of the Black Hawk Casinos sponsoring additional in-house fund raisers for the flood victims”, concluded Mayor Spellman.

The City of Black Hawk is located approximately 40 miles west of Denver in the Arapaho National Forest, on the scenic Peak to Peak Highway. Black Hawk is accessible via Hwy 6 and Hwy 119 from Golden and I-70 to Hwy 6 from Denver.
