A building permit must be pulled through our online permit portal, CommunityCore, serviced through the city's Building Division, which is contracted through SAFEbuilt.

Building Permit Application Guide
Timeframe for SAFEbuilt Plan Review:
- Residential Building Review: 5 Business Days
- Minor Project (total project valuation under $2M): 10 Business Days
- Major Project (total project valuation $2M or more): 20 Business Days
- Business Days do not include weekends or holidays.
Plans Needed:
- Some residential projects require plans, all plans will be submitted through the permit portal, CommunityCore.
- Almost all Commercial projects will require plans and those plans MUST be stamped by a Colorado Licensed Registrant. (Please see Commercial Submittal checklist)
Each set should include:
- A site plan
- A floor plan
- A section view, if needed
The site plan shows where the proposed construction will be located, including lot dimensions and all existing structures. A floor plan shows the use of the space, any framing proposed and its dimensions. A section view shows how the structure is attached to the existing building.
Online Permits for Contractors and Homeowners:
CommunityCore Registration (All Contractors and Community Members must register)
- A Contractor is defined as a person or company that undertakes a contract to provide materials or labor to perform a service or do a job.
- A Community Member is defined as a Homeowner, Business Facility Manager, Business Owner, Design Professional, etc.
- On the CommunityCore login page, choose Contractor or Community Member as defined above.
- An account is created directly from the CommunityCore login page and does not require the City to set up the account.
- After the Contractor or Community Member completes their registration, they can apply and pay for permits, and access all approved documents.
- A Contractor can be linked to a Community Member’s permit and a Community Member can be linked to a contractor’s permit. Contractor and Community Member must both be registered to add to their permit.
Through the CommunityCore portal, you can:
- Obtain all permits
- Request inspections
- View inspection results
- Track all historical permits
- Download approved plans, inspection card, and permit card.
Permit Fee Payment:
All fees are due at the permit issuance. The city accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, AMEX, check or cash. A payment portal is now available to pay directly through CommunityCore, with credit cards and checks.
Contractors:
All contractors must register with CommunityCore AND be listed on the Building Permit before it will be issued.
